Parking Lot Compliant Signs need to be reflective and should comply with state regulations and federal rules. And at night, the inks need to be translucent and match day-time color values. Many competitive signs do not. Most states (and, even, many cities and counties) have their own regulations for ADA and disabled parking signs. We offer, here, a line of the most popular designs. Laminate Extends Life Laminated signs last longer. Our signs are easy to clean and last 10+ years outside. They withstand the scouring pad test. In practice, unlaminated, digitally printed parking signs start to fade in 1-3 years. Unlaminated signs also cannot be cleaned and are susceptible to abrasion. USA Made Our South Dakota factory has been proudly making traffic and parking signs for over 100 years. Generations of municipal and governmental buyers have loyally sourced their signs to us. In partnership with 3M, we are USA’s largest manufacturer of parking signs. 3M Authorized Signs We are a Certified 3M Sign Fabricator – a distinction that only a few USA manufacturers have attained. We don’t just use 3M films, but use the audited 3M Matched Component System: 3M inks, films and laminates. With so many low cost digital printers, it is easy to get overwhelmed with too many choices. For the best and the most durable signs, choose 3M. Read more Federal & Texas Signs What is the right design? With so many overlapping laws, often at the local jurisdiction, choosing the proper design can get quite complicated. Consult your local regulations. The Federal design shown here is most common and is the default design when there are no specific design regulations. In practical terms, however, it is used by many small property owners. These Federal signs are also allowed in Texas. California Signs Californian’s have their own signs! This includes both No Parking Signs and Handicapped Parking Signs. The California accessible parking signs should have International Symbol of Access in white on it, on a blue background and a legend of “Parking Only – Minimum Fine 250.” Florida Signs Mark each accessible space with a sign that is white on blue, with the text 'Parking by Disabled Permit Only'. Many users add a 'Fine 250' or 'Fine 100' to their postings. The sign should also include the International Symbol of Access in blue and white and have a minimum size of 12” x 18”. If the space is van- accessible, a 'Van Accessible' sign or message should also be included. Arizona Signs Each accessible space needs a sign that is green on white, with the legend of 'Reserved Parking' and 'Handicapped Plate or Permit Only'. The sign should include International Symbol of Access in blue and white. Add a 'Van Accessible' supplemental sign for spaces that have a 5’ wide van accessible aisle adjacent to the parking space. Federal & Texas California Florida Arizona Mount Signs Onto a Post Most handicapped parking signs are mounted onto 6’ or 8’ tall U-channel posts. An installed 8’ post gives you an 5’ clearance height (the distance between the sign and the ground) and this is common practice in many small lots. For a taller sign – when you see the sign over the sight lines of a car - use two overlapping 6’ posts. Mount Signs on a Portable Base When it is not practical to install a post, use a portable base. These heavy-duty cast iron bases can be positioned just where you need to reserve an accessible parking space. Portable bases are ideal for temporary use. Base weighs 23.5 pounds and can withstand strong winds. Mount Signs on a Chain Link Fence Attach your accessible parking signs to a chain link fence. Innovative fence clip makes this easy. Clip grabs onto the wires and can be flexibly positioned. Supplemental Sign Add a sign underneath the handicapped parking sign to extend your message. Indicate if the space has sufficient space for the side door of a van to be used for access. Add a fine – to indicate that you take violations of your parking rules seriously.
